How Home Care Packages Work
A Home Care Package (HCP) is a government-subsidised program designed to support older Australians who wish to remain living independently at home. The packages are currently available in four levels—Level 1 to Level 4—ranging from basic to complex care needs. Your eligibility and package level are determined through an assessment by the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT).
Although the funding is not paid directly to you, it is allocated for approved care services, including personal care, domestic assistance, allied health, and equipment. These funds are managed by an approved Home Care Package provider like Lion Rock, who coordinates your care plan and services to ensure they meet your individual needs.
Important Update – Support at Home from 1st November
From 1st November, the Home Care Package program will transition to the new Support at Home Program, which will introduce 8 levels of support to better align with your care needs and allow for more flexibility and transparency.
